This SDK has been checked for Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance and no problems have been found. For all components that are owned by Symbian:
- No value for date will cause any interruption in operation
- Any date based functions will operate in a consistent manner for dates prior to, during or after year 2000.
- In any interfaces and in any storage, the century in any date will be specified either explicitly or by unambiguous algorithms or inferencing rules.
- The Year 2000 will be recognised as leap year.
All third party add-on products have also been certified as Y2K compliant with the following exceptions:
- GCC: While Symbian have no reason to believe that the version of GCC that comes as part of the OPL SDK is not Y2K compliant, it has not been officially tested by our suppliers. However, Symbian do certify as Y2K compliant all components which have been built using it.
- UNZIP: We have inspected the authors official Y2K compliance statement for this utility. The only known issue is that it displays only two digits of the year when listing files. This is irrelevant for the SDK, as the integrity of files extracted from zipped archives is unaffected.
This Statement of Compliance refers to the product as supplied by Symbian and does not constitute a warranty.
If this Symbian product is to be used with other computers, the user should ensure that these products (e.g., other software, firmware and hardware) are also Year 2000 Compliant to ensure data integrity.
